In 2025, Michael Kvium completed a permanent commission for AP Pension’s new headquarters in Nordhavn, Copenhagen. At the center of the building’s atrium lies a monumental floor mosaic designed by Kvium and executed in the traditional Palladiana technique, composed of more than one hundred types of European natural stone.
Realized in collaboration with the Italian workshop T. & P. Odorico, the mosaic integrates Kvium’s distinctive visual language into the architectural structure itself. Rather than functioning as a separate artwork, the piece is embedded within the spatial experience, contributing to the building’s ambition to form a contemporary Gesamtkunstwerk.
The headquarters received the 2025 Natural Stone Award in recognition of its exceptional and holistic use of natural stone. Kvium’s contribution plays a defining role in this synthesis of art, architecture, and craftsmanship, creating a lasting dialogue between material permanence and artistic vision.
